The Repercussions of Leaving Litter to Collect on City Streets

There are several negative aspects of litter being left to collect on city streets. Litter is unsightly and will make any area appear dirty and unattractive. Working for a sweeper hire firm, I do see the effects of litter on neighbourhoods, and it's not pretty. If there is heavy wind or a storm in the area, the garbage can very early be blown in all directions and begin to collect and pile up in certain areas. Not only is litter unattractive, it can also have a very unpleasant smell. On a hot day, the warm temperatures can make litter emit a odor of decay if there are any food leftovers in it. Litter can also attract vermin and rodents like all kinds of insects, rats, and mice. It would be very unpleasant to be walking along the city streets only to see rats running around and be stepping on large insects. Litter can also pose a hazard to people walking down the street. It could very easily cause people to accidentally trip and fall or slip and injure themselves.
